Victoria retail project to add new chain restaurant and pet store

The City of Victoria economic development office confirmed on Thursday that two new businesses will be coming to town, a Chicken Salad Chick and a Petco. The businesses will be part of the new retail development at Victoria’s Retail Center on North Navarro St.

Though the City of Victoria does not have any building opening permits for these businesses yet, they expect them to come in soon.

The first report came from a Facebook post by a developer, confirming local speculations and sharing the businesses that will be opening. So far, five are confirmed, including Burlington, Five Below, Ulta Beauty and of course, Petco and Chicken Salad Chick.

Chicken Salad Chick has several locations across Texas, but the closest one to Victoria is in Lake Jackson. It’s what Victoria residents have been asking for, more variety. Earlier this month, plans were announced for a fifth McDonalds.

Not only will it bring more food variety with the new restaurant, but shopping variety. Petco is currently the only store that will have competition in its field, with PetSmart, Tractor Supply Co and several other local pet stores already in Victoria.

Five Below is the first store of its kind to come to the Victoria area, with the closest locations both in Corpus Christi. Burlington and Ulta will bring more variety to Victoria’s fashion and beauty stores, adding national chains into the mix, and not forcing people who want to shop there to go to Corpus Christi.

Chicken Salad Chick is a unique chain, as it serves a variety of chicken salads. Founded in 2008, the website states that it was founded in Auburn, Alabama by a couple that just loves chicken salad.

Victoria’s 103.3 The G.O.A.T reported that the first phase of the development will open in spring of 2026. The second phase will follow and open before the end of the year.
