Boyce Agricultural High School/Boyce Elementary School reunion

A reunion of all students and employees of Boyce Agricultural High School/Boyce Elementary School will be Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at Golden Corral, Costello Drive, Winchester.

Glen Burnie Garden Club

Pet adoption event

The Winchester Area SPCA and CMA Subaru of Winchester have planned a pet adoption on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the dealership at 3019 Valley Ave., Winchester, to meet adoptable pets and enjoy a bake sale and raffle. WASPCA recently received a $4,000 grant from CMA Subaru to get 30 pets ready for adoption during Subaru Loves Pets Month. TalkWALK Community Walks

Join us every third Monday of the month for a free, casual 2-3 mile walk through a different Winchester neighborhood. Walk and chat with city staff, local leaders and community members. Walk With a Doc

The Winchester chapter of Walk With a Doc will have its next walk on Oct. 25 from 9-10 a.m. Meet at the Valley Health Wellness and Fitness Center lobby. The event is free to attend. Hear a brief talk, “Breast Cancer Screening,” by Dr. Anita Minghini, followed by an enjoyable walk with the group at your own pace and distance. Rain or shine. Arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in. Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter

The Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter (WATTS) will host its annual fundraiser, “An Evening of Caring & Sharing,” on Oct. 25 at the Elks Lodge, No. 867, 466 Front Royal Pike, from 5-9 p.m. Dinner, cash bar, raffles, live auction, DJ, selfie station, more. The Stephens City Lions Club meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month for a dinner meeting at 6 p.m. at Stephens City United Methodist Church from September through June. Trout Unlimited

The Winchester Chapter of Trout Unlimited is dedicated to the conservation of Virginia’s cold-water fisheries. Winchester Climate Café

The Climate Café takes place at Doppio Bunny Coffee inside the Vibrissa Brewing Company at 10 N. Kent St. at 9 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month. A Climate Café is a facilitated discussion group for climate-concerned people, often in a pop-up setting. The Winchester Federation of the Blind provides services, support and training to help blind and low vision individuals live the life they want. Apple Valley Woodturners (AVW) is a 501©(3) nonprofit affiliate of the American Association of Woodturners and has been active in the Winchester area for over 30 years, serving woodturners throughout the Northern Shenandoah Valley. CCAP

CCAP of Winchester is a great place to give your clothing a second life. Because of limited storage, we can only accept fall/winter clothing beginning Sept. 1. We need the following gently used items:

Fall/winter clothes infant-adult sizes; tennis shoes (all sizes); men’s jeans and T-shirts; women’s jeans, size 2-8; sweatpants and sweatshirts for all; fall jackets and hooded sweatshirts for all; new socks and underwear for toddlers through adult 5XL; men’s belts and women’s purses; adult backpacks and gently used/clean linens (sheets, pillowcases, blankets, and towels); individual baby wipe packs; size 2-6 diapers; hygiene products for babies and adults; tampons, adult disposable underwear in all sizes, incontinence pads.

Donations may be dropped off Monday-Friday between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 112 S. Kent St., Winchester. Call CCAP at 540-662-4318 for a scheduled donation drop off if these hours don’t work with your schedule.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2123

VFW Post 2123 holds its monthly membership meeting the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the HIVE at Shenandoah University, 608 Millwood Ave., Winchester. Any eligible veteran is welcome to attend and participate. We continue to serve our active duty and veteran community. We offer Service Officer resources to help with benefits claims and can put you in touch with all other government and local resources in our area.

Does your cat or dog need spay or neutering services? Spay Today is the area’s nonprofit, reduced-price pay and neuter program (office is in Charles Town, West Virginia).
