Sweet Gray Cat Abandoned at Petco Making Biscuits in His Carrier Has People Emotional

A sweet boy named Motomoto seems really cool under pressure, though he has every right to be a little scared.

In an emotional clip on TikTok, we learn this gorgeous boy was abandoned at a Petco store, where the staff gave him that cute name. (Wait, was that the name of that hippo from one of those Madagascar movies?)

“He’s already neutered, very friendly,” says Kay Banks, who runs Tabby Tails Cat Rescue in northwest Ohio. “Hopefully, you’ll be a quick adoption,” she says to this stunning gray boy.

Viewers had lots to share as they questioned why anyone would abandon this kitty.

“As much as I hate that they left him, I’m glad they didn’t dump him out somewhere random,” said one.

“Poor baby, I hope he gets better parents,” added another.

“Making biscuits even in the carrier,” a third viewer chimed in. “Pretty boy is gonna get adopted fast.”

I noticed he was making biscuits, too, which, to me, signals he’s in a much better place at Petco. Maybe he can sense that Kay is going to take great care of him. Of course, making biscuits is an instinctual behavior carried over from kittenhood, signaling comfort, affection, and safety.

With that, it looks like Motomoto is actually enjoying a little alone time in his carrier.

He is so handsome! That thick gray coat and those stunning yellow eyes make him look like a star!

Surrendering a Cat

Now, abandoning a cat at a pet store isn’t the right thing to do, but at least Motomoto wasn’t left in the wild, which often leads to starvation, predation, or death. The best and only responsible action is to surrender a kitty to a local animal shelter, humane society, or rescue group. These organizations ensure the cat receives proper care, veterinary attention, and a chance to find a new home.
